Sheep Exhibitors Information

Registration Deadline is June 1st!

All lambs shown in market lamb class must be either wether or ewe lambs being born on or after November 1st of year shown and weigh 80 lbs. and over. Proof of age from breeder may be required.

Pre Fair Set Up Date: Thursday, Aug. 7 @ 6:30 p.m.

All sheep are required to have an Official USDA Scrapie Tag number listed on their entry form. (TAG HOTLINE: 517-337-4705). Call early so that they arrive on time! Must be listed on entry form or online at time of registration! Scrapie tags will be verified at tag in date.

Market Ear Tags in by: All Market sheep must be brought to the fairgrounds for tagging on June 4th or 5th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. If unable to attend on either date, exhibitor must notify superintendent no later than June 1st. All sheep must have ear tag in place by June 5th.

The committee reserves the right to check lambs after the date for placement of fair tags at the address of the animal’s location.

Breeding animals will be classified as Black face or white face.

All sheep must be owned and in your possession of exhibitor by June 1st.

All exhibitors must call by July 31st to verify how many lambs they will be bringing, who they want to share a pen with (if anybody) and where they would prefer to be in the barn.

Entry Day: All sheep must go through Health Check at Gate 3 (Shawnee Rd.), from 7 am and Noon on Sunday, August 10, then proceed to barn.

After your sheep project is checked in and settled at the barn, you must proceed to the entry office before 2:00 pm to complete your registration papers.

Exhibitors must use sawdust or shavings for stalling.

Fair Week: There will be a sign-up sheet in the barn for exhibitors and/or their families to close the barn each night of fair at 11:00 pm. Any help is greatly appreciated. Barn closing each night simply entails closing the front doors and two small doors.

All exhibitors are responsible to clean their pens daily and clean pen entirely on Wednesday of fair and replace with fresh sawdust. Exhibitors failing to do so will fall under the 3 Strike Rule (see page 13-14 of exhibitor handbook). Exhibitors are also responsible to help keep the aisles clean of sawdust and other debris throughout fair week.

Release of sheep will be Sunday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Market sheep will be loaded on trucks Saturday night as usual.

Premium checks may be picked up on Saturday of fair from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. or on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Entry Office. Checks can also be cashed at those times.
